Special Apple launches still set for March 24th?

Final Cut on Mar. 24th?

Apple continues to have special plans for March 24th, a German website claims. Although rumors had pointed to an update of Mac desktops on that date, Apple surprised analysts and the public by releasing the systems on March 3rd instead. Some form of announcement is believed to remain scheduled for the 24th however, specifically relating to the company's professional video software.

Included could be a new version of Final Cut Studio, which is presently described as undergoing internal beta testing. The software may in fact be critical to the event, as it is thought that the event on the 24th may exclude any sort of hardware release. The Studio beta is however said to be "quite buggy," which could force Apple to delay an announcement by several weeks. The initial date would foreshadow the National Association of Broadcasters show set for April 18th, a common platform for video-related launches.

    Netbook

No, no, no... it's their new 10" touchscreen netbook!

Ok, I know it is just wishful thinking, and it is my birthday on the 25th, but I wanted to be the first to say it!

    crazy...

It won't matter to you guys... if Apple ever creates a "netbook" (who the h*** would want one?) all we'll hear on this site is what Apple left out, the price is too high, it won't work to their satisfaction, should have had higher performance than other netbooks, etc. (Snow Leopard on it! What is wrong with you people?) These "dreamers" tend to be from ex-PCers....waaaaaah-waaaaah

    Re: crazy

No, ex-PCers would be stating "What? They want $900 for a netbook? Are they kidding me? For what? Because it 'looks good'? Bah!"

The fanboy crowd will love them because they came from Apple, and they can do nothing but shine praise on anything Apple releases, no matter what flaws it might have.

But it's the middle ground that is of interest. Those who want a netbook, but insist on it having OS X on it. Will they demand that it also be up to Apple's styling? Will they demand that it be 'snappy' and complain if it isn't? Will they complain when Apple insists on shipping it with 32 GB drives, because they want to make sure iLife and iWork will fit on it, regardless of the price increase it causes.

And some of us will just complain, because that's what we do. "What??? How dare Apple leave off firewire! That's insane!! How can anyone use it without firewire??? Oh, it comes with Firewire? What??? How dare Apple include firewire! Just another attempt at Apple jacking up the cost!"

Why would you want Snow Leopard in April. If they released it in April, it will be unfinished, untested, and who knows what is wrong with it. But, hey, lets get it out. Quality is job 4 or 5 here, right. More important that it ship so we can say "Well, I guess it's snappier! My benchmarks show it makes my mac 5% faster!!!"

And I want a freaking mini-tower for around $1500. But noooo, we don't need one of those. Some lame netbook, sure. But no mini tower.

Personally I'm hoping for Final Cut Studio 3, plus it is close to NAB and 2 years since since studio 2, makes it about the right timing.

Though an Apple netbook would be cool (in Aluminum)

    well we know...

we know that it ain't gonna be a refresh of the desktop line, and since that refresh happened so low key, they might just suggest that they have something much bigger to crow about soon (lets face it with or without SJ, Apple likes to crow).:

I would think it might be more likely to be ipod related news, but of course if that was some kind of bigger screen estate ipod touch (a real Apple media player?) then that might just qualify as the much sought after Apple netbook?
