Sony readying new iPod micro stereo

Sony system coming soon

Sony is due to release a new iPhone- and iPod-ready micro component system soon, a new leak shows. The CMT-Z100iR would play and charge the Apple devices but, according to Sony Insider, would get a rare wall mounting capability; listeners would also control it through a touch panel. The system will also play CDs, although it's not known if MP3 files on the discs will be supported. There is also an auxiliary input and a USB port for connecting nearly all other portable audio devices.

TThe two speakers are rated at 20W each and get a boost through an S-MASTER digital amplifier. The two-way bass-reflex and treble adjustments have a range of -4 to +4, letting users tailor the sound. As with most of Sony's more recent iPod speakers, an AM/FM radio tuner is also integrated with an oversized clock for display; a remote control is likewise expected to be part of the system.

No pricing or release date information is yet known.
