Meizu M9 handset developed

After recently unveiling the M8 handset, Meizu CEO J. Wong has announced a new handset, the Meizu M9, is already in the works. It will be available in two versions, the M9c and M9t, with the former supporting conventional CDMA2000 networks and the latter built to work on China's government-supported TD-SCDMA 3G network.

No other specific information is known about the M9, though it is expected to carry over some of the features of the current M8, including a Windows Mobile operating system, 3.4-inch touchscreen and an overall look and functionality that mimics that of the popular iPhone. More unique features of the current cellphone include a removable battery and a larger, 3.2-megapixel camera.

The current M8 with 8GB of memory is priced at the equivalent of about $349 in China, while the larger 16GB version costs $421. [via Meizu Me]
