Photo leak shows next-gen Mac mini retail packaging

updated 02:50 pm EST, Mon March 2, 2009

Mac mini box photo leak

A new leaked image appears to show the retail packaging for the next-generation Mac mini. The photo, posted on OneMoreThing.nl, features a Mac mini with five USB connectors, a Mini DisplayPort and a FireWire 800 port. The design elements match a previous image leak and video, while a NVIDIA logo adds evidence to reports claiming the upcoming device will use the GeForce 9400M graphics and controller chipset.

Apple is expected to launch NVIDIA-based Mac minis and iMacs sometime in the near future. The source of the packaging photo claims that the 24-inch iMac will feature a 1TB hard drive and memory capacities up to 8GB.

The presence of a retail box could indicate a March release, although the exact date still remains unknown. [via AppleInsider]

    Fake

Move on... All the Mini packaging has NOT been shrunk wrapped as far as I can remember. Nothing hides fake graphics better than high-gloss wrap...

    fake, too

What a joke. Look at the FireWire symbol. They are not matching in the two pictures.

    Still Fake

Look at where the vent ports line up with the ethernet port. Different in the two pics.

    Comparing photos

Um, you're comparing photos of the supposed product with photos of the supposed packaging. That they don't match doesn't prove that the second is a fake. The first is just as likely to be a fake.

    Oh, pure fake

Forget everything else. Why would Apple put the BACK of the mini on display on the box?

Oh, and the last time I checked, the mini box was barely 6-8 inches high, certainly not this. This looks more like a flyer than a box.

    Looks like....

The "packaging" actually looks like that pamphlet you get telling you how to use the computer...

    Just add one more vent

Well, just add one extra vent and they'd become identical.

    i'm with testudo

Why would Apple put a picture of the back of the computer on the package, or anywhere else?
