AgfaPhoto new cameras

Germany's AgfaPhoto at the PMA 2009 show introduced a number of new digital cameras, including the DV-5580Z that can capture high definition video at up to 1440x1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. It can otherwise capture still images via its 8-megapixel CMOS sensor and has a 5x optical zoom along with a digital image stabilizer. Users frame their shots using a 2.5-inch LCD display that flips out from the body. While launch dates are not available, the DV-5580Z is due to cost about $250.

The AgfaPhoto OPTIMA 830UW digital camera is meant for active outdoor enthusiasts, as it is waterproof for up to nearly 33 feet, can operate in up to 23F (-5C), and can withstand a drop from 3.3 feet. Traditional specs involve an 8-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom, and a 2.5-inch TFT display. ISO can be set as high as 1600, and there are 21 scene mode programs. The AgfaPhoto OPTIMA 830UW is currently available, priced at $350.

The OPTIMA 1438m sports a 10-megapixel sensor and a 32mm wide-angle lens with 4x optical zoom. It has 23 scene modes, and a 3-inch display encased in its all-metal body. The OPTIMA 1338mT has nearly identical specs, minus the larger lens and a 3x zoom, as well as 23 scene modes. The OPTIMA 8328m drops the megapixel count to 8, and the size of the LCD to 2.7 inches. The three are available now, priced at $210, $200 and $140, respectively.

Two other new additions are the AgfaPhoto sensor 830s and 530s, each equipped with a large red sensor photo capture button instead of a traditional button. The former has an 8-megapixel sensor along with a 3x optical and 5x digital zoom, while the AgfaPhoto sensor 530s combines 5-megapixel resolution with a 3x optical and 8x digital zoom. The pair shares a 2.4-inch display, face tracking software and maximum light sensitivity adjustment of ISO 800. Available colors includes black, bronze, pink or royal blue, with prices set at $90 and $70, respectively. [via PhotographyBLOG]
