updated 10:30 pm EST, Fri February 27, 2009

EB4FR RAID-5 storage

Proavio has released the EditBox EB4FR, its latest line of hardware RAID-5 storage systems created for the Mac. The EB4FR comes in both a desktop or rack-mountable model and offers a quad interface. Features of the storage device provide users with hot-swap capabilities for replacement of SATA disks, a front LCD configuration panel, and offers up to 6TB raw capacity and 4.5TB RAID-5 capacity. Each storage device is capable of connecting with FireWire 800 and 400, USB 2.0, and eSATA at up to 3Gb per second.

Designed for content creation professionals, an additional feature of the storage device provides users with a rebuild window for times when a disk failure takes place. If a computer does suffer a disk failure, the storage system will automatically rebuild the missing data to help make sure it's available whenever needed. The EB4FR can be found on the company's website and come in several different capacities ranging from 2TB to 3TB with prices starting at $1100.
