New iMacs imminent?
New iMacs with NVIDIA-based graphics may be closing on a release, in spite of legal disputes, sources claim. Existing models of the computer are said to be in low supply with resellers, and Apple educational salesmen are reportedly being given the go-ahead to offer special discounts. An image has also been leaked of new marketing material, which touts NVIDIA graphics for both 20- and 24-inch sizes.
At present, only the 24-inch iMac has the option of an NVIDIA video card in place of an ATI model; a switch would bring iMacs into line with modern MacBooks and MacBook Pros, which use NVIDIA's GeForce 9400M and 9600M processors. Complicating matters may be an ongoing row between Intel and NVIDIA, in which the former has insisted that NVIDIA cannot build chipsets for Core i7 processors. The leaked marketing suggests, however, that Apple will remain with Core 2 Duo processors for the time being.

I want a iMac with ...
a quad processor. Maybe the high-end model will have one. Who knows? Otherwise, I'm not a buyer.
