Dell Studio 1555 ships
Dell is using Singapore as the first venue to offer its upgraded Studio 15-series notebook, the Studio 1555. It sports a new LED-backlit, 15.6-inch screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 1366x768 resolution. The notebook offers the first application of ATI's newest mid-range graphics chip, the Mobility Radeon HD 4570, with a dedicated 512MB of video memory.
Other specs of the notebook include a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. A Wi-Fi half mini card allows for wireless network access.
In Singapore, the Dell Studio 1555 is priced at the equivalent of $1,046. The notebook with the larger, higher resolution screen, an extra gigabyte of RAM, and the ATI graphics carries only a $30 premium over the base model Studio 15. Online buyers in the city state also temporarily get a free upgrade to a larger 320GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM. North American availability or pricing for the portable PC have not been announced, though both are expected soon.
