Corel Painter 11 launches
Corel has announced a February 25th release for Painter 11, its key illustration software. New are a variety of features, such as new marker, pen, pencil and chalk brushes which behave differently depending on options or drawing technique. Users also have access to customizable hard media types, and improved selection options including a polygonal mode for the Lasso tool.
The Mixer and Color Palettes are now resizable, and color management as a whole has been enhanced with separate color profiles for each document, plus better recognition of color settings in graphics imported from Photoshop. Both layers and colors are now maintained in transferring documents between Painter and Photoshop.
The software additionally expands Wacom tablet support, speeds up performance, and allows for more complex transformation functions, including mode-switching from a single tool and transforming only part of a layer's contents. The Mac version requires Mac OS X 10.4 and 1GB of RAM, and as a download will cost $399 new or $199 in upgrade form.
