Paradigma has released Valentina DB 4, and launched Valentina for iPhone, adding new software to the Valentina product line. All of the database products include SQL-to-XML capabilities, SET/GET SQL property management, ISP hosting and support for version 4's new project format. Within the updated line are Valentina Reports and Reporting Services; the former is a reports creation engine which works with the Valentina DB kernel, making it possible to generate reports from any Valentina DB or server product.
Reports is said to work with every major developer environment, including Cocoa, .net and C++, among 18 in total. It creates reports from SQL, produces charts and graphs, generates PDFs with embedded XML, and enables sub-reports, web exports and barcodes. Add-on pricing starts at $200.
New to Valentina Developer Network Professional Edition is the Valentina DB client for iPhone. The client library can be built into iPhone apps, allowing connectivity to Valentina Servers for client-server connections with the iPhone. The Pro edition costs $1,000.
Valentina Office Server 4 adds Valentina Reporting Services, used to create server applications for generating reports, while Valentina Developer Network has more options for selecting which platforms are utilized, and now includes Valentina Reports as an option. The Developer Network Platform Edition costs $600, while Office Server is available for $300.
Also introduced with DB 4 is Valentina Studio Pro, which features report design capabilities that can be used with Office Server or saved for use with Reports. Studio Pro is still in an open beta stage and not yet priced for retail.
