Pixelmator 1.4 update
danholt4mac has introduced Pixelmator 1.4, an updated version of its image editing software. The program handles a number of common tasks, such as painting, sharpening and blurring, and also supports more advanced functions such as cloning, masking, filtering, layering and color correction. Files can be saved to generic formats such JPEG and TIFF or more specialized ones such as PSD, PDF and EPS.
The upgraded software builds in a new painting engine, and makes a number of new brush options possible, such as various settings for scatter, flow and jitter. New brush presets have been added, and brushes can now be saved by dragging them to the desktop, or loaded by dragging them back into Pixelmator. The palette can be rearranged moreover, while brushes from Photoshop can be imported.
Version 1.4 lastly incorporates a Clouds filter, and enables document presets. Pixelmator costs $48 new and runs on Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
