Cox wireless plans

Cox Communications is nudging ever closer to its plans of launching a 3G, 700MHz wireless voice network in the US by announcing it is hiring two new executives. Cox Wireless VP at Cox Stephen Bye announced on Wednesday that the company has appointed Raj Beri as VP of wireless product operations while Dan Dickie is the new executive director of wireless product development.

Beri will manage the launch of Cox Wireless and the long-term operational processes of the company's wireless product. He will also be charged with product architecture, development and support processes.

Dickie will direct and manage device development and related services for Cox's wireless business unit. Once products are released, he will oversee the carrier's product development and upcoming offerings.

The company says it will eventually release its products, though did not elaborate and list specific dates. The telecommunications company owns 12MHz of spectrum licenses covering 76% of its cable footprint. The company adds that it will eventually offer Long Term Evolution technology (LTE) technology for 4G networks. It has not been disclosed when or in which markets Cox will launch, though the launch is expected to take place in 2009. [via RCRWireless]
