JAMF has launched Composer 7, updating its software package creation utility to produce installation packages for computers within Mac-based networks. Composer creates packages tailored to end-user configurations in enterprise environments, and supports point-and-click navigation during the setup process. Packages can be deployed in PKG or DMG format, and the app can be set to monitor and record filesystem events.
Also new in version 7 is the ability to drag components and/or files to be distributed into the Composer window for pre-configured packages. The Package Editor now has a range of new productivity features, including the ability to manage pre-flight, post-flight and other scripts, create and modify localizations, and identify new, modified or deleted files.
Composer 7 is currently available for $100. It requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, and in version 7, no longer requires pre-installation of Apple's Developer Tools.
