Shuttle outs SDXi gamer PC

Shuttle PC has announced that its small form factor SDXi Carbon gaming PC is now shipping. Shuttle claims the gaming platform sports the world's first Liquid I.C.E. technology, with specially designed cooling, case and motherboard for the optional 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU. The PC can handle other graphics-intensive applications as well, including CAD, graphic design or animation. It has support for up to 16GB of RAM, though Shuttle only offers between 2GB and 8GB.

Graphics are handled by NVIDIA's GeForce 9800 GT card, though a GeForce GTX 295 dual-chip card is also an option for particularly high-end gamers.

The standard chip is Intel's 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad, with a 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo and 3.0GHz Core 2 Extreme as remaining options below the top-end processor. Buyers can specify Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate operating system and hard drives for the two bays ranging from a 10,000RPM, 150GB unit to 7,200RPM, 1TB drives.

Optical drive options include a 20X dual-layer DVD-RW burner, a 2X Blu-ray reader and DVD-RW writer combo, as well as a 4X Blu-ray writer. Expansion options involve six total USB ports, a FireWire port, an HDMI output, 7.1-channel high definition audio support, two eSATA ports and one each of PCI and PCI-E x16 slots. A Wi-Fi module is optional, as is gigabit Ethernet.

The Shuttle SDXi Carbon is available now, and starts at $2,599. A fully-equipped SDXi Carbon without a monitor or extra peripherals tops $5,300.
