Qoppa Software has released PDF Studio 5.5, an update to its Java-based PDF editing and management tool, previously reviewed by MacNN. PDF Studio comes with a variety of features that enable users to view any existing PDF document, to modifying the pages, and add attachments to PDF files. In version 5.5 of the software, users can expect several new capabilities such as Preflight PDF/X verification, Bates Numbering, and improvements that allow the use of Mac Open Dialog instead of standard Java Open Dialog.

Other new features offered by PDF Studio 5.5, gives users a signature pane to display the list of digital signatures, a distance measuring tool, and new dialog to add headers and footers with document previews. Apart from the added abilities in the update, more improvements were made to the software’s pencil tool, and a re-constructed annotations list pane, which is now located at the bottom of the page and is capable of printing the list of annotations.

In addition to the improvements and new functions, a series of fixes are included in the application that deals with support for polygons in import and export of annotations, low resolution problems when printing scanned images from a Mac, and a number of internal bug fixes. PDF Studio 5.5 can be downloaded from the company’s website, requires Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, and is priced at $60 per-user license. The company also offers free upgrades for pre-existing users for a minimum six months after purchase of the application.
