Acer unveils four more Tempo smartphones

updated 04:35 pm EST, Tue February 17, 2009

Acer outs more Tempos

After releasing its first Tempo smartphones at Mobile World Congress on Monday, Acer is back on Tuesday with the release of four more handsets. While little specific information is known, the F1, E1, C1 and L1 are rumored to offer a strong price relative to their feature sets thanks to carrier-subsidized pricing. The prototype handsets were turned off while on display at the show, so there is no indication of what kind of features or operating system will be used in the phones.

The photos do reveal at least one of the handsets, the F1, will have a 5-megapixel camera. A missing Start button on all the handsets implies Windows Mobile 6.5 will not be part of the spec. Some of the handsets have touchscreen displays as well as sliding designs that hide a physical keypad. They are said to include assisted GPS and, if they come with Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5, will include the Office Mobile suite of software.

What is known is that the phones will be reportedly released sometime in the second half of 2009 and aren't likely to ship with Google's Android operating system. [via Engadget]
