GigaByte WM 6.5 phones

GigaByte is getting ready to announce its new GSmart line of smartphones at next week's Mobile World Congress in Spain, which will be some of the first products to ship with the latest version of Microsoft's mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5. At the show, the company will launch what it claims is the first smartphone with a DVB-T tuner that allows for the wireless transmission of digital audio, video and other data with the t600 handset. At the same time, the MS808 handset will be the first to bring together a DVB-T tuner, GPS functionality and 3G data network access into a smartphone.

Other new phones will include the business-oriented MS820 which was introduced last year, along with another phone with multimedia capabilities and a digital broadcast tuner. The company also promises to show a handset for business users unlike anything they have before, though does not elaborate.

The pictured GSmart S1200 handset is a designed for the style-conscious users, with a 0.43-inch thick body and coating meant to keep fingerprints off. The phone sports a 528MHz Qualcomm processor and will run Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 OS and Windows Mobile 6.5 later on.

A GigaByte-developed interface called Smart Zone will let users freely navigate the handset's functions, with the company claiming one or two button-presses is all that is necessary to access any given program. [via TracyandMattBlog]
