CrossOver Games 7.2.0rc1 fixes Steam issues

updated 09:30 am EST, Thu February 12, 2009

CrossOver Games 7.2.0rc1

Codeweavers has released a minor release candidate update for CrossOver Games, one of its virtualization utlities. The software is used to run Windows games on Mac and Linux systems, whose normal virtualization tools may lack the optimization needed to achieve reasonable framerates. Users can install and run Windows games without having to own a copy of Windows.

Compatible games include the likes of Prey, Sam & Max and World of Warcraft. The v7.2.0rc1 update is said to improve support for Steam, the interface used to buy and run Valve titles such as Left 4 Dead or Team Fortress 2, as well as a host of third-party games like Civilization IV. Users must already be owners of CrossOver Games to download the update; the Mac version costs $30, and requires an Intel system with Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
