Red Alert 3 on pre-order

Gamers can now pre-order a Mac conversion of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, according to the port's developer. Originally released late last year for Windows, the game is a real-time strategy title set in an alternate history of Earth, in which Hitler is assassinated by Albert Einstein before World War II and the Allies battle against the Soviet Union instead. Einstein is subsequently assassinated by the Soviets, which accidentally allows the Empire of the Rising Sun to threaten Soviet dominance.

The game concentrates around single-player campaigns for each faction, in which players have access to both conventional weapons and more exotic ones such as Tesla coils and freeze rays. Multiplayer play supports both cooperative and competitive options, and the game features story cinematics with actors such as Tim Curry, Jonathan Pryce and George Takei.

The Mac port should be shipped in March by TransGaming at a price of $30. Mac OS X 10.5.6 will be required, along with an Intel processor, 10GB of hard drive space and a video card equal to or better than an ATI X1600 or NVIDIA 7300GT.
