Story Planner Pro
Digital Video has launched two new tools for creating graphic storyboards with text, Story Planner and Story Planner Pro. Both versions of the software are designed for cinema, advertising, animation, and video games industries, by trying to help simplify the creation process of storyboards. Users will be able to create sketches, make and format text, and import images or sketches into a series of panels that are numbered to help with organization.
The software will come complete with a full set of drawing tools such as a pencil, brush, airbrush, and eraser, multiple custom presets for drawing tools and colors, and a real-time animatic preview window. With the added selection tool, users can transform and duplicate different sketch sections. Also included in the application is the ability to edit the animatic or soundtrack, and to export any sketches as image files in PNG format. Other exporting capabilities enable users to print or export in PDF format, or to export scenes as toonz scenes.
Story Planner Pro adds to the first version to enable creation of more complex animations within a timeline editor, and to control the animation of the camera and graphical layers in each sketch layer. When the finished product is previewed, the animatic can be generated with a single-click command. Both Story Planner and Story Planner Pro are compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or later, and can be downloaded from the company’s website. Story Planner is priced at $60 with the Pro version set at $500.
