iPhone apps: q : flame, Eye Test, iD Generator

  • q : flame ($6) allows users to work with flame fractals on their iPhone or iPod touch. The application uses several unique rendering algorithms that allows the fractals to be workable on the iPhone. Multiple transform flames have been includes along with several topologies, seeds and gradients.

  • Eye Test ($1) is a tool that can be used to test a users sight. Users can test their near visual acuity with a Snellen Chart, record their results and then track their vision over time. The application also includes a color test to help users see the difference between what they see and what a colorblind person may see. Their is also a series of visual illusions included, each with an explanation of why it happens.

  • iD Generator ($1) allows users to create personalized ID tags on their iPhone or iPod touch. Users can fill in their name, select a picture and pick from one of the badge templates. The application includes 12 different ID templates including Fighter Pilot, Model Photographer, Test Driver and Fireman.

  • MedFacts ($1) is a database of facts related to medicine and the human body. Some of the facts are amazing while some seem unbelievable. Users can launch the app and one fact will be displayed and if they desire to read more there is a "New Fact" button. For example, "One cannot catch a cold at the North Pole in the Winter. The temperature is so low that none of the standard disease-causing micro-organisms can survive.

  • FullBrowser (free) is an alternative to the Safari web browser included on the iPhone and iPod touch. FullBrowser uses the entirety of the touch screen to display websites by hiding the address and status bars. Users can either swipe across the bottom of the screen or shake the phone to show the web controls.
