Sonnet Storage devices

Sonnet Technologies says it will debut five new products at the NAB Show, Fusion DX800RAID storage system, Fusion F3 RAID storage system, Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34, Pro Dual CompactFlash (CF) Adapter ExpressCard/34, and the Fusion F2 1TB Portable Storage System. The DX800RAID is an eight-drive RAID SATA storage system with a built-in Serial Attatched SCSI (SAS) expander which enables up to 16 eight-drive enclosures to connect to a single Sonnet RAID controller. The device offers read and write file transfer speeds of up to 680MB/sec and 640MB/sec, respectively.

Both the complete system and expansion feature eight pre-installed Mac OS 3.5-inch RAID/Enterprise edition hard-drive modules and will be available in 4TB, 6TB, and 8TB, and supports RAID 5/6 configurations. DX800RAID allows for real-time monitoring and status reporting on drive, the power supply, and temperature status.

Fusion F3 RAID is a hardware-based RAID storage system that uses 3.5-inch SATA drives to offer 1TB, 2TB, or 3TB configurations. Designed for recording studios or portable video editing systems, the device mounts the drives side by side on a multi-port shock isolation sled to help prevent vibration-related problems. Fusion F3 uses a quad interface to provide users with an eSATA port for maximum speed, FireWire 800 for fast connectivity, and FireWire 400/USB 2.0 ports for additional flexibility. The Fusion F3 is capable of sustaining read/write transfer rates of up to 200MB/sec.

Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 offers data transfers up to 200 MB per second for notebook computers and is designed for video capture in the field, studio, or office. The device allows users to connect up to 10 SATA hard drives to any compatible notebook computer with an ExpressCard/34 or 54 slot. Users can also combine the SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 with storage systems featuring two or more drives to help improve the read and write data transfer speeds.

The Pro Dual CompactFlash (CF) Adapter ExpressCard/34 is made for the needs of digital photographers and videographers. Capable of transferring files from two CF memory cards to a MacBook Pro, the ExpressCard supports the current available CF memory card and future cards up to 886X. The dual-slot memory card adapter can hold two Type I memory cards, or a combination of Type I and Type II (hard drive) cards. Adapter ExpressCard/34 supports UDMA6 transfer modes with transfer speeds maxing at 133 MB per second.

Fusion F2 1TB Portable is a 2-drive RAID SATA storage system that provides two 500GB/5400rpm 2.5-inch drives mounted side by side. Designed for on-location video capture or remote use, the Fusion F2 has shock-isolated its drives to help eliminate cross-coupled vibration when on the move. The storage device enables data transfer rates of up to 153MB/sec for write speeds, and 143MB/sec read speeds. One feature of the F2 is the placement of its drive side-by-side, this increases the metal cases cooling surface to eliminate the need of a fan. F2 draws its power from either a computer's FireWire port, or an optional power adapter.

The company said that more information on the storage systems will be available at the NAB Show in mid-April.
