Sprint planning to launch Palm Pre in May

Palm Pre Targeted for May

An internal Sprint end-of-life (EOL) list obtained by BGR hints that Palm may be ready to ship the Pre in May. The touchscreen smartphone will effectively replace the Treo 755p and is listed as appearing in late May, arriving about a month before the end of Palm's official first-half 2009 target. Retail staff are already believed to be training for June, suggesting the retail launch may be scheduled for slightly after the in-stock date.

The timing potentially puts the Pre's launch up against that of the next iPhone, which itself has recently been rumored for a June release and which is expected to be a major overhaul.

Besides the Pre, the list also points to a mid-February ship date for the CDMA Treo Pro, which replaces the Treo 800w, and new LG phones that include the Rumor II in mid-February and the LX370 slider phone.
