Garmin intros FR60 watch
GPS maker Garmin has recently introduced the FR60 fitness watch that can connect wirelessly to compatible ANT+ fitness sensors such as heart rate monitors and foot pods. Meant for hardcore fitness aficionados, the FR60 is also compatible with select fitness equipment at gyms or homes and allows users to upload data to their PCs or Macs to keep detailed track of their workouts and fitness progress. The computer sync is done with the help of a wireless ANT Stick that attaches to the PC over USB.
The watch can record as much as 15 hours or 100 laps of exercise data. It's waterproof, letting users take it with them into the swimming pool as well. Because it doesn't rely on a GPS signal like so many other Garmin products, owners are able to use it to its full potential even indoors.
The FR60 will be available in a men's or women's version, as well as red, lilac and black colors. It is bundled with a heart rate monitor, while the foot pod is available in select FR60 bundles. With the connected foot pod, the FR60 can track and save speed, distance, burned calories, steps and cadence. Cyclists will be able to add bike speed and cadence sensors to the FR60, which they will be able to secure using a bike mount. Garmin has not yet announced any release or pricing information for the FR60.
