Denon delays DVD-A1UD

Denon on Friday announced it will delay the release of its DVD-A1UD Blu-ray player by about two months, without giving any reasons for the delay. The company now claims the reader is now due out late in March as production is behind the original schedule. Denon's flagship is billed as the first universal disc player for its ability to play back Blu-ray, DVD video and audio, SACDs as well as standard CDs, in addition to having a slot for SDHC memory cards. It also handles pure DivX 6, JPEG, MP3 and WMA files.

To improve the quality of digital audio files, there is an integrated audio-restorer, while a 4th-gen Link port lets the player smoothly integrate with Denon's home theater audio amplifiers. There are two HDMI 1.3 connections, along with a component video, S-video, composite video, optical and coaxial digital audio, balanced two-channel stereo analog audio and an Ethernet port. The DVD-AU1D supports Dolby TrueHD decoding and DTS-HD Master Audio over up to 7.1 channels. BD Live support will become available via firmware upgrades in the future.

At current exchange rates, the Denon DVD-AU1D will cost the equivalent of about $5,974 when it eventually launches in Japan. There is still no indication when or if the device will ship to North America. [via Impress]
