Olympus M1 and M100 Leak

Olympus will have not one but two cameras based on the Micro Four Thirds system in the near future, a Russian leak hints. The first, the M-1, would have a relatively compact body but would carry a 3.2-inch LCD and shoot HD video, making it one of the first DSLRs below the Nikon D90 to get the feature. It will also reportedly come with a relatively short-ranged but removable 12-45mm lens.

A second, lower-end model known as the M-100 is said to have a less protective shell and is believed to closely resemble an Olympus concept camera (pictured) that was demonstrated late last year. Little else is known, though the M-100 should have a more universal 14-70mm lens. Both cameras will have the option of using a new 45-150mm lens for longer-distance shots.

When the cameras will appear isn't known, though Olympus itself has promised its first Micro Four Thirds cameras for this winter. The PMA photography expo is also set to start in early March and is the closest major event for Olympus to reveal its first products using the system, which aims to provide DSLR image quality in near point-and-shoot bodies.
