CLC Genomics Workbench 3 improves assembler speed

CLC bio has released Genomics Workbench 3, the latest version of its analysis and visualization software for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data. The application uses an SIMD-accelerated assembly algorithm to analyze NGS data, with a 15-fold speed improvement compared to the previous version, the company claims. Once analyzed, the visualization tools allow users to spot genetic changes such as inversions and duplications. The update also features digital gene expression and expression analysis of micro arrays and RNA-seq data.
Workbench 3 works with all major NGS platforms including Genome Analyzer, SOLiD, and HeliScope. The program is platform independent and compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Businesses and schools must contact CLC for prices.
