Canon readying 1D Mark IIIn for PMA?

Canon 1D Mark IIIn Leak

Canon may use the upcoming PMA expo to introduce an upgraded variant of its EOS-1D Mark III flagship, according to a German store catalog entry. The listing purportedly shows an EOS-1D Mark IIIn already in the system with a price tag of 4,240 Euros ($5,603) but with other text blurred. No release dates or other specifications are included in the leak, which was initially thought to be fake but has since gained additional credibility.

While the rumor remains unconfirmed, the 1D hasn't been updated since 2007 and was the earliest Canon camera to ship with DIGIC III processors and a 21-megapixel sensor in the form of the 1Ds. It has since been partly eclipsed by the 5D Mark II, which uses a newer DIGIC IV chip and captures images at roughly the same resolution. Competing cameras such as the Nikon D3x also offer higher resolutions.

PMA begins on March 3rd.

    Info Mixup

    This entry is mixing up information from two different cameras. The 1D MarkIIIn would be a successor to the 1D MarkIII, a photojournalist/sports camera. The 1DsMarkIII is the Canon 1-series camera with a 21MP sensor. The MarkIIIn would likely be placed into a 12-15MP range and maintain a speed of at least 10fps but who knows Canon might push the envelope to 12.     I would also hope that the "n" might also mean Wireless.
