New Samsung handsets

Samsung is getting ready to release three new handsets, one of which will include the yet-unreleased Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, according to a recent blog entry by online retailer Expansys. The code-named Samsung Pivot will replace the i780 and will reportedly run on the as yet unannounced Windows Mobile 6.5. The candybar handset will have a QWERTY keyboard, along with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, assisted GPS capabilities, Bluetooth and a Wi-Fi radio.

A second phone, the Louve, will have a slider design not unlike that of the HTC TyTN II, which sees the extended screen open up at an angle in relation to the QWERTY keyboard. The device will include a 3.2-megapixel camera and Windows Mobile 6.1 for an operating system. The homescreen will have a custom interface similar to the one used in the Samsung i900 Omnia handset.

The third new handset is the Samsung B2100, which is due to replace the Samsung Solid M110. It will be IP54-certified, making it more durable under extreme conditions. It reportedly shares its feature-set with the previous B2700 but does without that handset's 3G network access, flash and pedometer features.

No prices or release dates are yet known, though more information for the three handsets is expected, along with an official debut, at the Mobile World Congress in mid-February.
