Option intros GlobeSurfer

Option on Thursday announced the release of its new 3G wireless router that is capable of creating a Wi-Fi hotspot with a fast HSPA broadband connection in a networked home or small office. The device has a USB interface that allows users to connect external hard drives to back up data or share their content over the Wi-Fi link. A connected printer can also be hooked up and shared by all who have access to the network.

Apart from a cable for the power connection, the device requires no other wires and all of its functions can be accessed via a built-in color display. At the core of the Globetrotter III is a Qualcomm 7225 chipset, helping the device deliver download speeds of 7.2Mbps and upload speeds as fast as 5.76Mbps. Advanced Wireless Service in the US is supported by the device.

Option has not announced pricing information for the Globetrotter III. [via Slashphone]
