GSM Plam Pre at MWC?

A teaser webpage suggests the forthcoming GSM version of the yet unreleased Palm Pre smartphone is expected to be announced at Mobile World Congress in Spain in mid-February. A carrier for the new version of the handset is also expected to be named at the show, and Palm is already preparing for the widespread release of its announcements with a dedicated MWC webpage, which was accidentally opened up to the public before being locked down again.

Our first look at the Palm Pre came at this year's CES show, and revealed many of the touchscreen device's specs. The handset will feature a 3-megapixel camera, 3G data network access, a Bluetooth connection, a GPS sensor and an integrated Wi-Fi radio. While prices have not officially been released, some reports suggest a $400 contract-free price tag. [via GearLog]

    be different

One way for Palm to distinguish its phone from the iPhone and the G1 is to enable its bluetooth feature to be used to connect to an external keyboard. Both the other phones have a crippled bluetooth stack that doesn't permit this. Nokia phones, on the other hand, do.
