T-Mobile G2 Photo Leak

HTC's next Android phone for T-Mobile may more directly compete against its rivals from Apple and RIM, a photo leak shows. Gizmodo has obtained shots it believes may be of the G2 that reveal a much slimmer, rounded design that drops the sliding QWERTY keyboard but keeps a 3.2-megapixel camera, a directional pad and hardware buttons. Typing will instead hinge on a virtual keyboard update Google plans to release for Android this year.

Little else is revealed about the supposed handset, though HTC and T-Mobile are mentioned in the rumor lining up a release for mid-May. Neither of the involved companies has discussed plans for a G2, though HTC has publicly set out an April target for a second Android-based model. A T-Mobile release would have to have 1,700MHz 3G for the American network and is likely to share the same GPS and Wi-Fi features of the G1.

    How about??

How about fixing the things that are wrong with the G1 before bringing out another beta phone?

The meager implementation of Bluetooth in the G1 renders it almost worthless while driving.

And this new thing is just butt-ugly. Who's doing their design work...Microsoft?

    G1 is done. Move on...

It was far behind when it was introduced and further behind still. Start with a clean slate and let's all move on to the G2. No more keyboard means they're moving to the future. Just keep cranking out the newer models with better and better hardware.

The D-pad and four-button layout makes it look like an older Palm PDA. And I'm kind of surprised we still see separate physical buttons for dial and hang-up.

    keep drinking that kool-aid guys...

So the G1 is done huh? Yeah, prob not so much considering it is one of only a few open source mobile platforms.

The G1 imho is a far superior phone. If apple had slapped there logo f**** all over it you guys would think it was great.

Oh and BTW, not everything need to be a touchscreen button. Get over it. Touchscreen is bling bling and all, but totally inferior to physical keyboard for long term use.

Not to mention from Tim Cooks quotes the other day that they are going to try to stop anyone that mimics "their ip", which according to fan boys like you guys is anything with a touch screen that you can make a little pinch on anymore.

This isnt the same apple. These guys arent out to revolutionize anything anymore, they only want your cash. I mean, look at the absurd itunes library upgrade thing. Gimme a break. what a bunch of tools.
