Sanyo reveals 2009 Xacti cams for US

Sanyo Xacti 2009 US

Quickly following up on its Japanese plans, Sanyo this afternoon has already detailed the US plans for its 2009 Xacti camcorders. The FH1 (pictured) is the American rebranding of the FH11 and is one of the first conventional-layout Sanyo camcorders as well as one of the first 1080p60 cameras from the company, recording H.264 video to 8GB of internal memory or SDHC cards; it carries a 10X zoom lens and shoots still photos up to 8 megapixels.

The HD2000 uses Sanyo's more familiar vertical layout and drops the 8GB of built-in memory but is otherwise fundamentally identical to the FH1. Prices sit at $500 for the FH1 and $600 for the HD2000.

The WH1, CA9 and CG10 also cross over to the US and record at 720p. The horizontal WH1 and vertical CA9 are Sanyo's waterproof models and, according to the new update, can stay underwater as deep as 10 feet for the WH1 and 5 feet for the CA9. The WH1's body gives it a 30X lens where the compact CA9 holds to 5X zoom. Moving to the CG10 provides a less resistant but smaller body as well as 10-megapixel photos. Sanyo prices the CG10, CA9 and WH1 at prices of $200, $350 and $400 respectively.

Sanyo is also introducing a sixth model with the US introduction. The TH1 is a non-waterproof parallel to the WH1 and has the same 720p shooting, 30X lens and 8-megapixel stills. It will sell for $300.

All six video cameras are due to ship in March.
