Eon displays iCal on Mac OS X desktop

Eon calendar display

GossTech has announced Eon, an application that enables users to display their iCal events directly on the Mac OS X desktop. Equipped with four different calendar types, month, day, single event, and birthday, users can customize the properties of each type individually. With the month calendar, a skin editor can be used to change the appearance to the user's desired preference; it also comes with a skin repository that contains pre-made skins available for download.

The birthday calendar is displayed in a 3D base and provides a picture frame feature that lets users insert photos for specific birthdays. Eon works with both the iCal and address book to retrieve the birthday information. For the day calendar, users get the ability to rotate the calendar on its Y-axis. This results in the events that are further away in time, becoming less apparent.

While Eon is in active mode, both the background and color transparency can be customized. Compatible with Mac OS X 10.5, Eon is priced at $15 for a single license, or a family pack of five licenses for $35.

    Great idea...

...shockingly bad execution. Download it and see how not to write Mac software.
