Austrian iPhone price cut
The Austrian division of T-Mobile has cut pricing on the iPhone 3G, the company's website reveals. The 8GB version of the phone now costs just 1 when paired with a 45 monthly subscription. Under the same subscription terms, phone pricing was previously set at 99.
T-Mobile is additionally waiving subscription fees for the first month, and offering a 45 discount for online orders. The deal is mostly notable, however, for being the first such dropping of the iPhone 3G's price, which may herald similar cuts around the globe. Analysts have worried that the ongoing global recession may harm iPhone shipments, since the smartphone is largely seen as a luxury item.
