MasterControl ships

Alesis has announced first shipments of its MasterControl audio interface and control surface. Designed as a professional audio interface and recording control tool, the device provides 44.1kHz to 192kHz recording capabilities. The input section consists of two XLR inputs with phantom power and channel inserts, six TRS line inputs, and expansion capabilities. Master Control also comes complete with a talkback microphone, a full MIDI interface, and the ability to review knob, button, and fader settings before sending them to the DAW software.

Dedicated speaker switching is provided to enable users to select between multiple monitors to check their mixes on different speakers or in other rooms. With the multifunction jog wheel, functions such as shuttle, zoom and ender data are offered. The controller also comes with eight 360-degree assignable virtual potentiometers with three banks each, to allow engineers control over 24 different parameters.

Coming bundled with two software applications for recording and sequencing, Steinberg Cubase LE 4 and Ableton Live Lite 7. The company officially prices MasterControl at $1300 but buyers can expect to find it for $900 on the street; customers can view the product at NAMM this week.

    Ha Ha Ha ;-)
The one with USB 2 from Alesis, USB Recording Kit can record at CD-quality 16bit 44.1 kHz audio. So, if you want to record better sound quality than that you might have to go with an old fashion FireWire. Sorry New MacBook user, you're out of luck. You have to blame Apple for that ;-)
