Archos intros netbook

At CES, Archos, best known for its portable media players and Mobile Internet Devices, is jumping on the netbook bandwagon with this, the Archos 10. As the name suggests, the netbook sports a 10.2-inch screen with 1024x600 resolution. Other main specs are par for the netbook course as well, comprising a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM memory and a 160GB hard drive with Windows XP.

Otherwise, the netbook will weigh nearly 2.9lbs with the standard 3-cell battery or slightly more with an optional 6-cell power source. Buyers will get 802.11b/g Wi-Fi functionality, an Ethernet port, webcam and three USB ports.

The netbook isn't an Archos-developed product, however, as the company has simply applied its name on the existing Hasee MJ125 netbook from China. Unlike the Hasee, however, the Archos version seems to be offered in black only. The Archos 10 is due for a late January release, priced at about $399 for a version with a 3-cell battery or $449 with a 6-cell battery. [via ArchosLounge]
