Speck releases backbacks, sleeves, iPhone/iPod cases

Speck has released several new products, including hardshell, iPhone cases, two new lines of iPod nano and iPod touch cases, AftPack lightweight backpacks, CorePak Notebook Messenger bags, PortPak Notebook shoulder Bags and the basic TuckPack Notebook Sleeve.

The Candyshell iPhone 3G cases get their name from a design change many iPhone owners have wanted. Earlier hardcase designs did a good job of protecting the device from damage, but the plastic wound up scratching the 3G's chrome trim and plastic case. Speck addresses this problem with a with a rubber inner lining that protects the iPhone and covers the buttons with a flexible shield. The Candyshell cases cost $35.

The company has also released a line of fabric-wrapped, and rubberized cases for the iPod Nano 4G and the iPod Touch 2G. The $30 fitted fabric-wrapped line features a black pinstripe design, with future patterns to be released seasonally. The ToughSkin rubberized cases retail for $40 for the iPod nano and $35 for the iPod touch 2G.

In addition, Speck has added to its line of SeeThru Hard Shells and SeeThru Satin-Touch Hard Shell cases for Aluminum Unibody MacBook and MacBook Pros. Several new colors have been added to the line, including "High Noon" yello and pink. Both lines sell for $50.

Speck's new AftPack backpacks,CorePak Notebook Messenger Bags and PortPak shoulder bags come with micro-fleece lined notebook storage, media player pockets with headphone pass-through and mesh water bottle pockets. There are two styles -- black pinstripe or black with plaid accents. The AftPack sells for $100, the CorePak for $90 and the PortPak retails for $80. Speck is also releasing the smaller TuckPack Carrying Sleeve, with a similar design but fewer features for $40.

Your definition of 'light weight' is skewed. The Aftpack weighs in at 2.75 lbs - that's in no way light weight for this type of pack. You gotta be closer to 1lbs for that, at least under 2lbs.

Their shoulder bags are 2lbs, more acceptable, but their messenger bags is up over 3lbs.
