Briefly: iLife up-to-date, Toon Boom; iSync plugins

In brief: Toon Boom has now reached an agreement and acquired Intellectual Property from Cambridge Animation Systems. Apple has released a new iLife up-to-date program for customers purchasing a new Mac in the next couple of months. If the computer does not include iLife ’09 customers will be able to upgrade to the new software for $10. Meanwhile, nova media has released the latest update to its iSync plugins that add Mac OS X support for cell phones that are currently unsupported by Apple’s iSync.

Toon Boom Animation Inc. has announced that it has reached an agreement with Cambridge Animation Systems, and acquired all of the Intellectual Property of Cambridge and the Animo product line. According to Joan Vogelesang, President and Chief Executive Officer at Toon Boom, “this acquisition is expected to accelerate Toon Boom’s objective in delivering powerful animation solutions.” Toon Boom hopes that this acquisition will help with its market consolidation strategy in the global animation industry and reinforces its leadership in the media, entertainment and educational arenas.

Apple has announced a new promotion for Mac customers who purchase a computer between January 9th and March 28th. If the computer does not come pre-bundled with iLife ’09 the customer will be able to purchase the update for $10.

nova media has announced a new version of its iSync plugins that provide cell phones from Nokia, Samsung and Sony support to work with Mac OS X. By using the plugins users can synchronize contacts and dates even if their phones model isn’t supported by Apple’s iSync application. The software currently supports more than 200 cell phone models and now includes support for the following models: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Sony Ericsson C510a, C510c, C905, C905a, C905c, G705a, G705i, G705u, T700, W595, W595c, W595s, W705, W705a, W705u, W902 and the Samsung SGH-A767, SGH-A837, SGH-L810, SGH-Z720. The plugins are available online at nova media’s website at a price of $10.
