Logitech G19 G35 G9x

Logitech on Tuesday exploited the run-up to CES to revise its G series gaming peripherals, including the addition of its first Mac-friendly gaming keyboard. The G19 is the company's new flagship keyboard for play and centers on a 320x240, color LCD that can be used to provide information on active games with support for the company's GamePanel software, such as World of Warcraft. It also performs double duty as a VoIP call panel, media viewer and performance tracker; users can switch between many of these without having to leave a currently running app, the company notes.

A dozen dedicated programmable keys are available that can each have three macros. The entire keyboard is backlit and carries two USB ports for mice or other low-power peripherals. It should arrive in March with both Mac and Windows support for $200.

The G35 headset marks the first headphone set of any type from Logitech to produce 7.1-channel surround sound through a Dolby Headphone algorithm and has an atypical voice masking feature that lets users try any one of six different live voice effects; apps such as Team Speak or Ventrilo automatically recognize button controls for the masking feature. It also carries onboard volume and mute buttons, and should ship in March for $130.

Logitech's last gaming introduction, the G9x, improves on the earlier G9 mouse with an even faster sensor that tracks at up to 5,000DPI and can drop as low as 200DPI for slower, steadier movements. It continues to focus on customization with swappable cover plates, adjustable weight and variable LED light colors. The G9x's full feature set wil be available only to Windows when the mouse surfaces in April for $100.
