as good as Mobile ME?
My oldest brother, a recent switcher (it took me 20 years, but he finally bought his wife an iMac), commented that "I'm sure it will work as well as Mobile me does." He, of all of my family of Mac users, was most screwed up by the early weakness of Mobile Me, which he'd just bough last summer along with his iMac. natch.
better be included in...
my MobileMe subscription. Charging extra to people who are already paying for webspace with apple would be somewhat unfair. As far as I know, posting Adobe acrobat documents to Adobe for sharing is free....
and if you can export them to Google documents for free, why bother paying apple?
paid service
Paid service when it goes live later? Google Docs (docs.google.com) is free and works with Mac and PC. Good thing there is choice.
Re: paid service
But you might not be able to leave notes on google docs!
So very typical . . .
All one finds on the web today is hate, vitriol, contumely, derision, criticism, bile, cynicism, loathing, and the like concerning Apple and today's presentation. Clearly, it is no longer possible for this company to please its own customer base, much less the WinTrolls of the world.
Given that fact, permit me to recommend that everyone dump his/her AAPL, MacBooks, PowerBooks, iMacs, MacPros, iWork, iLife, iTV, iPhones, iPods, MobileMe, Mac Minis, and anything else you may presently own or use from Jobs and company into the nearest landfill.
There is no more balm in Gilead. The boob has been de-boobed. And I, for one, weep for what once was.
Re: So very typical
Yes, because why should customers have expectations of a company meeting their needs/wants?
re: So very typical ...
I can totally see where the negative feedback and the whining could get to you, but in all fairness, Apple has been getting greedy and sloppy.
This is not the apple of 2001, or 1995 or 1989. It just keeps getting worse, as they build market share. If it's like this now at 5%-10% market share, what would happen at 20% or 50%? Would they be just another Microsoft? Or Symantec? or DELL?
This is one of the good things about the Mac community. They're harshly critical of their favorite company, simply because they pay a premium for a quality product, and they expect to be treated as such (a valued customer).
I personally think that MobileMe should be FREE for all Mac users. If a Windows user wants to pay for it, fine, but Mac Users should already be entitled to it. Especially people who own licenses for iWork or iLife. Google does it for free (with a lot more services); Microsoft does it for free, and I'm sure there are others. Why can't Apple?
