Epson PowerLite projector

Epson has recently introduced a new flagship home theater projector, the PowerLite Home Cinema 6500 UB, which sports a native 1920x1080 resolution and a significantly improved 75,000:1 contrast ratio along with 1,600 lumens of brightness. To achieve these numbers, Epson used its 3LCD Crystal Clear Fine D7 chip that includes an HQV processor and a PW390 scaler for creating sharp images. Aimed at home theater aficionados, the 6500UB includes HDMI 1.3a connections for integration into existing setups.

An Opticinema lens offers a 2.1x zoom ratio, and there is both horizontal (50 percent) and vertical (100 percent) lens shift features that allow users to center the image without having to move the projector itself. The 200W E-TORL lamp is rated for 4,000 hours of life. Six color modes can be pre-set depending on the type of content being viewed, including Dynamic, Living Room, Natural, Theatre, Theatre Black 1, Theatre Black 2 and x.v.Color for Blu-ray players and other devices that support the features. The quiet fan produces just 22dB of noise.

The PowerLite Home Cinema 6500UB is priced at nearly $3,000, though no official release date has been announced. [via Gizmodo]
