17-inch Unibody MBP

We have some close-up shots of the new 17-inch Unibody MacBook Pro intrduced at Tuesday morning's keynote by Phil Schiller. The new MacBook Pro offers a non-glossy option with a new five-year-lifespan battery that is non-removable.

Bottom doesn't have any seams where the battery should be. Cool.

I'm quite upset that there is no updated iMac!! So Apple will be the last to offer Quad desktop chips in their desktop computers!!

Fellows, it is the battery. One of the first form factor batteries. Someone will build a Geo car with the technology. It is an amazing Ford thing. First it was the OS, then LCDs, then Low Power Chips, then Unibodys, now Batteries. Soon the Apple products will be untouchable in performance and beauty. Apple will not only own the market, but all aspects of the patented meaningful technologies of the market. Always long for the next seventeen years at least.

generic

I hear you. All of Apple's stuff suffers from very generic looks these days. Perhaps with better build quality, but borderline boring.
I personally liked it better when their stuff stood out more, like the G4 tower cases and the original iMac...
at least the OS still rocks

no removable battery?

Looks sleek but what to do now with a non-responsive, but still running MBP - just wait till the battery runs down? Is there a power kill switch somewhere?

much larger trackpad

much larger trackpad, very nice!

Have never taken the battery out of my MBP, not even once, so don't see how I'd miss it here.

Does it really run 8 hours? Revolutionary battery tech? If so, this is a huge story, a lot bigger than 17inches, if you'll forgive me for saying so.
