BFGTech Phobos

Best known for its add-in video cards, BFGTech on Monday stepped into the PC arena with its first full computer. The Phobos is meant to exploit BFG's expertise with video cards and will come with as many as two GeForce GTX 295 cards with liquid cooling to produce a quad SLI video setup. It will also have an uncommon, eight-inch front touchscreen that lets users not only track system performance but manually tune the system's overall speed and play both music and video.

In a top-end configuration, the Phobos will also be tailored to particularly high-demand users and will come with a 3.2GHz Core i7 Extreme, also liquid cooled, as well as a Blu-ray drive and options for dedicated sound cards. The case itself separates itself from others by integrating an iPhone/iPod dock as well as a cable management system to keep the back of the system relatively clean.

Full specifications aren't available, though systems start at $3,000 for the Phobos Performance and scale up to $5,000 for a Phobos Advanced. The $8,000 Phobos Elite not only supplies the dual GTX 295 boards but a third, single-chip GTX 285 dedicated solely to handling PhysX and other general-purpose GPU tasks. Besides these and the high-end Core i7 part, it additinoally comes with 6GB of memory, four Western Digital VelociRaptor 10,000RPM hard drives and a 1,200W power supply to handle the added load. Each trim level can be customized to add extra features.

BFGTech doesn't say when its computer ships but promises more details on Thursday along with the start of CES.
