Turtle Beach headphones
Turtle Beach has recently released a pair of headphones for computers and most available gaming consoles, including the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, though use with the latter requires an additional adapter. The Ear Force PX1 PS3 headphones use a 16-foot cable and an Audio Advantage Amiga USB sound card to make them usable with the PS3. The adapter also allows the Ear Force PX1s to be used as a USB-powered headset for a computer, while an optical connection lets users hook it up to their home theater system or compatible HDTV as well.
The headset sports in-line amplifier controls to adjust audio levels, be they in-game or from a favorite CD, and a mute button that locks out the microphone when you don't want to be heard during a game. Volume levels can also be set on the PlayStation set-up screen for in-game sound and the chat audio level independently, allowing gamers to strike a balance between the two.
Set inside the deep, soft ear cup cushions are 40mm (nearly 1.6 inches) speakers with a neodymium magnet and feature a speaker frequency response of 30Hz and 20kHz.
The headphones are available now, priced at under $80. [via i4u]
