MacNN has taken a look at WebCrusher, a program that is designed to reduce website load-times. The software scans entire websites, including both files and images, then removes any unneeded code and compresses large files or images. The application includes a very useful manual and was overall an easy application to use. The only issue our reviewers ran into was a difficulty when editing pages that had been optimized.

MacHeist has now launched the 2008 Mac Giving Tree which offers free software gifts for Mac users across the globe. Visitors can download Enigmo 2 and Wincent's iTunes utility, Synergy, after signing up at no cost. Those enroll will also be able to access four additional gifts to be unwrapped on Christmas day.
