iBreath attaches breathalyzer to iPhones, iPods

updated 03:10 pm EST, Tue December 23, 2008

iBreath breathalyzer

David Steele Enterprises has announced the iBreath, an accessory for the iPhone and iPod touch that works as both a breathalyzer and a wireless FM transmitter. For the former task, owners plug the iBreath into a player, set it to the proper mode, and blow for at least five seconds to determine alcohol level. The device also comes with a timer, which can be set to anywhere from one minute to eight hours in order to prompt a future test.

Each iBreath is priced at $80, and comes with a USB cable and a 12V car plug, the latter of which allows use separate from an Apple handheld. Shipping is expected to begin towards the end of December.

    This is dumb

If it has an LCD, which shows the BAC, why do you need the iPhone?

    I agree

I agree. There is no need for the iPhone. This seems like a way to charge 80 dollars for something that should cost 24.95 tax.

I also advise to beware, these things arn't gonna hold up in court when you get busted for a dui. the judge isn't gonna go, "oh, the ibreath said you were ok? Well we will drop the case then."

    amazon.com

Can I get an iBreath that will prevent me from buying stuff on Amazon.com on my MacBook when I'm drunk? I keep ordering seasons of "Melrose Place" on DVD and making everyone at work laugh at me...
