BlackBerry Curve 8350i PTT phone ships for Sprint

updated 09:10 am EST, Mon December 15, 2008

BBerry Curve 8350 Ships

Sprint today began shipping its promised BlackBerry Curve 8350i. The smartphone is the first modern BlackBerry for the carrier's Nextel iDEN push-to-talk (PTT) network and also brings Wi-Fi, which lets users tap the cellular network for calls while still accessing Internet features. It also brings a group talk feature that lets PTT work with as many as 20 people in the same conversation.

Research in Motion's phone also supports GPS for navigation and carries the same two-megapixel camera and microSDHC slot as other Curve models; Sprint's version comes with a 1GB card to get users started. The 8350i should be available as of today online and ships for $150 on a two-year contract and after factoring in a rebate. Contract-free pricing puts the phone at $480, while retail shops will pick up the phone on January 11th.
