Steve Jobs participating in ad song selection

Jobs picking ad songs
Apple CEO Steve Jobs is himself involved in picking the songs used in company advertising, a musician claims. Lars Iversen, a member of The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, notes that when "Around the Bend" was chosen for an iPod touch TV ad, a company representing the band -- Synch -- first got in touch with Apple, and then participated in a direct meeting with Jobs. The executive is said to have picked the song to use at this meeting, expressing particular enthusiasm for the music.
It is unclear how many other bands were considered for the ad, if any, and whether or not the song's choice was simply a business transaction. Jobs is however known to pick favorite artists to use in public presentations, such as Bob Dylan, John Mayer and Paul McCartney. Artists used in past TV ads have included the likes of Feist, Fatboy Slim, Ozomatli and U2.

It's his company

Jobs built this company from nothing. Wozniak is/was a great engineer but Jobs is the driving force behind it all. Without Jobs Apple doesn't exist. It's his company and he will do as he pleases. All of this talk about Job's successor is just that...talk. There is no replacement for Jobs. When Jobs finally leaves/dies/has-a-stroke/gets-sent-to-jail/whatever that's the end of Apple. The company won't last two years without him at the helm, Ives be damned.

Right...

Because the 10 years it survived without him was just an aberration. It'll take more than two years for Apple to fold this time.
Oh, wait, lkrupp posted an "Apple is going under!" post! Woohoo!

After Jobs and if all things fail, probably the last resort to make Apple surviving is going back OS licensing.

Even without Jobs, Apple was awesome. The Newton, the PowerBooks of the 90s, OS 9...
Back on track though, Jobs is involved in everything the company does.

What lack of respect

for human life is being displayed by the comments lkrupp has made. Stating "when Jobs finally leaves" would have been sufficient, but to say leaves/dies/has a stroke.... It's almost like how he leaves isn't really important, even if it's only death. Steve Jobs will some day not be involved with Apple, I hope it will be because of his decision to do so and not because death did him apart. His life is important and has made an impact on many people, not to mention being responsible for the way many people earn a living. He will be missed when he steps down, no matter who replaces him. That said, when Steve Jobs is no longer at the helm, I do believe there are people who are very capable of leading the company in new directions and continuing it's growth. On the flip side, NO company is impervious to decay, and falling. Our latest situation on Wall Street should prove that. Businesses come and Businesses go, what about our value for each other and human life?
