HP Mini 1000 Price Drop
HP on Monday quietly dropped the price of its Mini 1000 netbook down to $360 from its original $400 price tag. The update puts the system into closer competition with same-size models and is accompanied by a new offer that doubles the RAM to 1GB for free. The deal effectively removes the most common upgrade option from the system and further discounts the final shipping price.
The system is otherwise unchanged from its reference design and comes with an 8.9-inch display, an 8GB solid-state drive and Windows XP in its stock form. Options exist for either a 16GB SSD or a 60GB hard drive as well as a larger 10.2-inch display, Bluetooth and the just-added 3G option that connects to EVDO and HSPA networks. Models bought at the new pricing should start shipping by December 17th.
